Reflection on reading 7.1 - "Dieting: a waist is a terrible thing to mind"

I have read the reading 7.1 entitled "Dieting: a waist is a terrible thing to mind", written by Martin Seligman (1994). Overall, this reading is discussing about dieting. Precisely, it is focusing on the current issues relating to the phenomenon of weight control that covers on the issue relating to physical and mental health, as well as the part played by commercial providers of weight loss products. I found this reading is really interesting because of it provides many useful information that has keeps playing in my mind for the past few years until at present. It also a little bit has encourage and increasing up my confidence back, especially when it comes on the issue of weight. The part that I'm also agreed with the writer is that when the writer states or argues that weight loss os not a matter of will power but depends on accepting our 'natural' weight. It follows that people who fail to lose weight are not at fault, but they are just asking too much of themselves. The writer says that they are just a victim of the false information put out by the weight loss industry and more general beliefs about maintaining an 'ideal weight'. The most interesting part that i found in this reading is that it stated there that dieting is not the best way to lose your weight but it causes you more trobles which mostly wil give you negative effects towrads your health. The mosat important thing is that you have to balancing in taking your meals and do a lot of exercise in order to make sure that we are in a good condition of health and have a happy life without worrying too much about our weight and body.Overall, the text is quite easy to be undertsand and it is also a very interesting text to be read. All the information is really helpful, useful and interesting in our life, especially towards the women out there who is really have this kind of problem and those who concern about their weight.
